How is Social Media helping the Recruitment Industry?

The growth in the use of social media in the recent years is cited as phenomenal. The need for quality candidates is fierce. Recruiters increasingly need to be where candidates are in order to engage them in the recruitment process. It is obvious that companies and recruiters looking to hire quality talent must make use of social media recruiting effectively. This includes engaging with talent and creating a strong employer brand across a wide range of social networking platforms.

Having a huge pool of candidate information is valuable but can take time to build and maintain. It’s not that important anymore to have a large database of potential candidates. The emphasis today is on how to navigate quickly through the database to find the most appropriate candidates, and how to make best use of other data sources available online. These include the traditional CV databases, such as Monster or CV Library, but also social media tools including LinkedIn and Twitter.

While LinkedIn has emerged as an important platform for recruiters to source and connect with candidates, Facebook and Twitter have helped many build a positive employer brand among prospective employees. These platforms have also helped candidates make an informed decision regarding their future employer, its culture, benefits offered and its differentiators.

It’s high time that recruiters leverage social media to strengthen their recruitment process. Recruiters can get an insight into a prospective employer’s interests to check if he/she would be a culture match for the company. Not only does it help in finding the right candidates, it also speeds up the process and helps cut down on recruitment costs.

To make things even simpler, recruitment automation systems now come with social media integration. This largely facilitates social media recruiting and helps recruiters connect with and stay in touch with the right candidates. Now is the time for recruiters to make an impact using one of the most efficient recruitment mediums!
